PHOTON PHO

Photon is a cryptocurrency using the Blake 256 Algorithm. It is a new project designed to function well now and with future technology in mind.

Photon is the second coin to use this unique design (modeled after Blake Coin) and may be mergemined in a pool with Blake Coin or other blake 256 coins in the future.

The algorithm was written as a candidate for SHA-3, Based on round one candidate code from the Sphlib 2.1 library and reduced the round function to 8 rounds.

ADVANTAGES

Design

  • simplicity of the algorithm
  • interface for hashing with a salt

Performance

  • fast in both software and hardware
  • parallelism and throughput/area trade-off for hardware implementation
  • simple speed/confidence trade-off with the tunable number of rounds

Security

  • based on an intensively analyzed component (ChaCha)
  • resistant to generic second-preimage attacks
  • resistant to side-channel attacks
  • resistant to length-extension

The starting difficulty was .003 currently at 374 after 1663 blocks.

The network is now at 100 gigahash / second.

Until it stabalizes there will be some orphan blocks.

Holy cow... it's now at 114 Gh/s.

Remember this is a keccak coin.  I'm getting 1GH/sec+ on each of my 270's.

It is a Blake-256 not "keccak" coin

I will be trying to merge mine this with Blakecoin on my test pool this weekend  :D

Once it is mining I still need to do quite a few mods to MPOS to get payouts and shares working correctly for multi coins before I can open it to the public

If using windows wallet to solomine set your photon.conf to the 8494 rpc port

that blake coin uses.

So create a photon.conf file in your Users/user/appdata/Roaming/Photon folder like this

listen=1

gen=0

rpcallowip=127.0.0.1

rpcuser=username

rpcpassword=password

rpcport=8984

server=1

daemon=1

addnode=162.243.101.139

In the cg miner .conf file

{

"pools" : [

{

"url" : "http://127.0.0.1:8984",

"user" : "Username",

"pass" : "password"

}

],

"intensity" : "11",

"auto-gpu" : true,

"expiry" : "10",

"failover-only" : true,

"gpu-threads" : "1",

"log" : "5",

"no-restart" : true,

"queue" : "5",

"scan-time" : "1",

"worksize" : "128",

"temp-hysteresis" : "4",

"blake256" : true,

"vectors" : "1",

"kernel-path" : "/"

}

Save this conf file, and on a 7970 i am using

cgminer.exe -o http://127.0.0.1:8984 -u username -p password --blake256 --shaders 2048 --gpuengine 1175 --gpumemclock 700 --thread-concurrency 22392 -w 264 -s 1 -E 1 -I 15

Will run about 2.7 ghz

quote name="bjmillican4" post="51804" timestamp="1392960854"]Can anyone help with cgminer.  I dl OP windows file.  Do I use .bat or conf.  There are 2 sample .conf files in the dl.  One is cgminer.conf, other is blake256.conf.  Which should I use?  Any sample settings?  Win7 64, r9 270.  Thanks.

you need the makefile from https://github.com/BlueDragon747/Blakecoin/blob/master/src/leveldb/Makefile to compile the leveldb from github

cd /leveldb

Linux: sudo make libleveldb.a libmemenv.a

Windows: mingw32-make -f Makefile TARGET_OS=NATIVE_WINDOWS libleveldb.a libmemenv.a
