Preparing HBN v1.4

Recommended Posts

Few things tonight.

Replaced nMaxClockDrift with with Future/PastDrift

https://github.com/Tranz5/HoboNickels/commit/79070d2a0f6878136a4bc689ea1276d8abd1e5d4

Added start up switch -confchange. Defaults to zero(off), can be turned on by setting it equal to 1. This will require 1 confirmation before you can spend your change.

https://github.com/Tranz5/HoboNickels/commit/b1d89ec0bfab2fe0799f30274289da0e4b1510bd

I'd say we are about 1/4 of the way to v1.4

Not sure to follow this "-confchange" argument.

According to what I understand, if set to 1, it requires 1 confirmation before being able to spend the "block"/"tx" received.

Not sure to follow the word "change" (money?)

I will love a default value set to 1. Like in real life, I don't like to spend money I don't "have".

Also, the argument "looks like"/"sounds like" "configuration changing".

If I was new, I will read it like :

If set to 1, the daemon will ask me if I do :

hobonickelsd settxfee 0.1

for example...

The build isn't finished, but for now, no errors.

Edit: compiled and running :

02/24/14 13:09:23 HoboNickels version v1.3.1.0-gc722bd8-hobo (2014-02-22 12:27:58 -0500)

Change is what is left over from a block after you send coins. So if you have 1 block of 50 coins, and send 10 to your buddy, you get 40 back in change. Under default conditions that client treats this different then normal blocks, and you are allowed to spend it right away. With this switch you can require you need 1 confirmation before begin able to spend change coins.

02/25/14 13:02:58 HoboNickels version v1.3.1.0-gc722bd8-hobo (2014-02-22 12:27:58 -0500)

02/25/14 13:02:58 Using OpenSSL version OpenSSL 1.0.1e 11 Feb 2013

Compiled and running.

For the "version", I don't know if there is a way to put the "rev" from the git into it automaticly, because it's not increasing "naturally" (and I don't expect you to change it all the time).

Not sure this is the right place to post this so feel free to move it where ever.

I've noticed that the popup balloons for the HBN wallet are keeping other popups from displaying until the HBN popups are acted upon.

Let say at 8PM I get an HBN popup stating some HBN has staked.

Then from 8:01PM to 7AM I get 10 other popup messages from mining another coin (CPU mining)

Once I acknowledge the 8PM HBN message (at 7AM the next morning)

I then get the previous nights pop up messages from the other applications

I'm wondering if there is a flag or something that can be set on the HBN popups so they display for 30 seconds or so then go away.

Just an observation.  I'm currently using version v1.3.0.0-g76880ab-hobo

Thanks!

Jay

Hi Jay.

As far as I know this is controlled by windows. You can turn off or otherwise inhibit which programs will alert you of changes and what type of changes.

As seen here: http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch001177.htm

  1. Click Start.
  2. Click Control Panel
  3. Click System and Security
  4. Under 'Action Center', click 'Change User account Control Settings'.
  5. You will then need to choose from the following 4 options:  'Always notify', 'Notify when programs try to make changes to my computer', 'Notify me only when programs try to make changes to my computer', and 'Never notify me when

But I'm not sure if a program can pop up and disappear automatically without acknowledgment.

I also find it annoying but also nice to see what I got while I was away.

OK this is crazy.  I fired up my QRK wallet and started mining QRK.  The QRK pop-up window (Same size and style as the HBN pop-up) appeared for 30 seconds then went away.

So I started typing up my findings here when an HBN pop-up showed up... it lasted for 30 seconds then went away.

So, I have to believe that for some reason, on occasion the HBN window is locking up at some point during the night and then once acknowledged then all the other pop-up windows are allowed through.

Thanks for your response and keep up the great work!

Hmm..

If I am working on the computer the popup window comes up and as soon as I move my mouse it goes away. But If I don't move the mouse it stays until I do.

I could also be because HBN is needy, and wants to be acknowledged before all the other coins.  :P

I'll keep my eye out as I am poking around the code. Working on the gui, and the notification window right now actually. Don't see anything configurable, to effect this yet though..

Thank you for the awesome wallet.

Have you seen the new feature of the blackcoin wallet that estimates stake times in the gui?
