Forums need a massive cleanup!

Recommended Posts

Me and DrGrid have been talking on IRC and we agree that everything is all over the place at the moment!

New Coin Launch Announcement - GRC - GridCoin

https://cryptocointalk.com/topic/1331-new-coin-launch-announcement-grc-gridcoin/

315 pages, hard to follow, really needs to be locked and unstickied. have to make a new one for grc research

Technical Support Thread

https://cryptocointalk.com/topic/1428-technical-support-thread/

63 pages, need a fresh start for GridcoinResearch imo. new thread?

How to Mine Gridcoin

https://cryptocointalk.com/topic/1589-how-to-mine-gridcoin/

Mostly outdated, needs to be locked and replaced by a relevant page in the wiki. The first post should be edited and say "This is outdated, go to this wiki link for an updated guide!". Needs to really stand out.

https://cryptocointalk.com/topic/1416-gridcoin-grc-information/

First post should be edited and say "This is outdated, go to this thread/or wiki link for updated info".

and pretty much the rest of the stickied posts need to be unsticked

I propose we have something like this

Create separate thread each time for MASSIVE announcements. should be stickied right at the top (for example the grc research release)

A Proof of Research thread

A Gridcoin-Classic Thread

Suggestions Thread

Linux Thread

just pretty much any major section of Gridcoin that deserves its own thread for discussion (but don't have too many)

The forum got a little unruly when Andrewp left, Rob has added me as a moderator and tasked me with some of the cleanup.

I'll talk to Rob about this, I agree to a degree but don't know the best way to go about it at this point.

Started a new thread for PoR.

Locked and updated the How to Mine Gridcoin thread with an "outdated" message

updated: http://wiki.gridcoin.us/Mining_setup

The wiki page needs some more detail and lacks a linux and mac guide, anyone want to add those?

I also un-pinned the fundraiser threads that went inactive.

I'm a litte hesitant to delete anything because there are sites and programs that measure activity on the forum, if the content is deleted those services don't have an accurate account of how busy this place is. If we can start to get people out if the main thread spreading around questions that should help.

Due to the reorganization, links from bitcointalk are broken to some of our threads.

This looks not very professional. Everyone who posted on BCT, please check whether your links are affected. Many thanks!

+1 it would be nice to have simple tutorial how to mine highlighted in such manner that nobody can overlook it.

Thread with one post only.

If something change, modify the original post.

No more digging in search for basic info.

That is what we are trying to accomplish with the wiki.  Any feedback would be great:

I don't know if anybody else noticed this, but also the official main wiki need a massive cleanup from wiki hack bot spammer.

Check how many BS pages have been created:

http://wiki.gridcoin.us/Special:AllPages

Also it this http://netsoftonline.com/ the page for our Netsof-online?

Welcome back Tugvarish, yes the spam is a well known problem. Before that we even had to clean up the rest of the forum manually about every 2 hours, before Rob installed a simple math captcha. I am not sure on the netsoft-online page, post in the main thread about it.
