Nxt NXT

Nxt is a descendant of Bitcoin.  Nxt uses brand new software.  It’s not a fork of Bitcoin source code.  Nxt is the first 100% Proof-of-Stake (PoS) currency.  Coins are earned solely by charging transaction fees.  Unlike other currencies with PoS mining, Nxt's PoS mining does not cause monetary inflation.  The total amount of Nxt in circulation is 1 billion.  Nxt improves different features of Bitcoin, removes some disadvantages (e.g. bloated blockchain) and resolves a big environmental issue.  Time between blocks is one minute.  This increases the rate of orphaned blocks but makes it more convenient for the users.  Nxt doesn’t use so-called “scripts” aka predicates.  This simplifies and accelerates transaction processing.  Advanced features like multisig will be created on top of the core as 3rd party services.

Security Tips

Do NOT run Nxt on a VPS.  Only run Nxt locally.  Even if you connect to your VPS securely via SSH, you are still not safe because all VPSs have backdoors.
Nxt's P2P port is 7874 (tcp).  This port is the only port that needs to be open to run Nxt.
Nxt also uses port 7875 for it's HTML client interface and port 7876 for API commands.  CLOSE THESE PORTS ON YOUR FIREWALL.

Update Instructions

1. Download nxt.zip
2. Unzip it!
3. Enter the directory with DOS prompt
4. Put there *.nxt files (near start.jar).
5. Type: java -jar start.jar

6. Open http://localhost:7874/nxt to launch Nxt servlet (u should see "HTTP ERROR 405"). This is normal, but ignore the error. This is a required step

7. Open http://localhost:7875/ for GUI.

PORTS

  • Port:  7875
  • API Port:  7876

Hi,

first, I'm using the win64 version.

I've done the whole installing prozess until "java -cp Nxt.zip Nxt".

When I'm writing the text in the cmdconsole there are only javaoptions shown, but no programm is starting.

When I'm using the internet way over http://88.198.210.245:7875, does that mean, I'm creating an account and then all work is down?

I'm mining when my browser is open and I'm inside my account?

greetings stefan

Yes,

I have to be more exactly, when I unzip the rar and write into the cmd "java -cp nxt" or "java -cp nxt.zip" ( to open the zip) the options are shown.

When I'm writing "java -cp nxt.zip nxt", cmd tells me that mainclass nxt could not be found.

You may find with the command promp of the console of Windows the correct directory where you have the NXT.zip file, do you understan to what I want to say?

Yes, of course I'm in the right directory where the nxt.zip is located.

And then you must execute the following command:

java -cp Nxt.zip Nxt

incredible, the problem was that I've written "java -cp nxt.zip nxt" instead of "java -cp Nxt.zip Nxt" ;)
