1. Go the website and sign up for Digital Ocean .

2. Fund you account with Paypal or Credit Card

Try the coupon : DIVEIN10

3. Click the Green 'Create Button' or the Blue 'Create Droplet' Button

4. Create an ubuntu 13.10 x64 Droplet, with the size you want (more CPU, more performance)

5. Username and password will be emailed to you

6. Use an SSH client like Putty ( Putty ) to login.

- Open Putty, Enter the adress IP of your newly created Droplet in the field (Port 22 and connection type : SSH )

- Then click "Open"

- Use the username + password who was emailed to you

7. Use the following scripts.

Copy a step in the clipboard  (ctrl+c) , then paste in the Putty windows (right click).

Wait for a step to finish before doing the next.

Install the dependencies

sudo apt-get install -y build-essential m4 libssl-dev libdb++-dev libboost-all-dev libminiupnpc-dev git

Install the last version of GMP

rm -rf gmp-5.1.3.tar.bz2 gmp-5.1.3
wget http://mirrors.kernel.org/gnu/gmp/gmp-5.1.3.tar.bz2
tar xjvf gmp-5.1.3.tar.bz2
cd gmp-5.1.3
./configure --enable-cxx
sudo make install

Create a swapfile (unneccesary if you have 1GB de RAM or more)

sudo dd if=/dev/zero of=/swapfile bs=64M count=16
sudo mkswap /swapfile
sudo swapon /swapfile

Install Datacoin (can take some time)

git clone https://github.com/foo1inge/datacoin-hp
cd datacoin-hp/src
make -f makefile.unix
sudo cp -f datacoind /usr/local/bin/

Create the .conf file

mkdir -p .datacoin
echo 'server=1
rpcpassword=[PASSWORD_CHANGE_ME]' > .datacoin/datacoin.conf

Launch Datacoin and start mining

datacoind --daemon

Check Mining info and balance

watch 'datacoind listaccounts & datacoind getmininginfo'

You just add the line in the conf files.

Something like that :

-p .datacoin

sievesize=xx' > .datacoin/datacoin.conf

Hi all!

I started mining as described above, but I have a simple question.

When I write the command:

datacoind listaccounts

I get:

    "" : 21.67000000
While when I write the command:
datacoind getbalance
I get:
Can you help me to understand the difference?
Do I mine something?

It mean you mined some Datacoin, (2 block) But they are not "mature" yet. So they are not available yet. Each block reward need 3200 block maturation.

You can see the number of confirmation with :

datacoind listtransactions

Hey, i buy two servers (16gb memory and 42gb memory, for tests). I think everything working ok, but... First server use only 55-59$ of power and second - only 22-24. It's possible to increase it to 100%?

Here's screen:

And after 5 hour it's normal to still have 0DTC?

The difficulty is now very high. I'm not sure it's still very profitable to mine. Unless you choose the most efficient server. The one at 0.007c/hour is not very powerful but it's the most efficient at Digital Ocean in term of power/cost .

You don't need much ram to mine Datacoin, only CPU are important.

Hi again, one more question

The description above will not work for Ubuntu 12.04, right?

Actually for which other Linux versions it can work or it is only for Ubuntu 13.10?

Thank you in advance for the answer!

Thanks for the guide. Few questions:

- If I chose the $20 plan from DigitalRiver, do I need to make any modification to the code? Currently my CPU graph is only showing around 40% usage. Isn't it suppose to be higher for 2 CPU?

- If I close the putty window, will it stop mining?

- How much datacoin can I expect per day (with current difficulty; 2 CPU package from digitalriver)?

- Do you recommend joining a pool for datacoin?
