OS X builds - Feedback & Bug Reporting

245 posts in this topic

Hi Mac users,

I've been doing the irregular OS X builds in the past. Will gladly start maintaining these more regularly in the future, but I'll require feedback on whether they work on real users' ends or if I'm just finding excuses to fire up an OS X VM to marvel at the polished UI every couple of days ;).

Currently, I'm doing these builds in Mountain Lion. They are supposed to be backwards compatible down to 32-bit Leopard (10.5), so if someone has a system dating this far back, or simply any further than 10.8, I'd appreciate verification that these are indeed compatible down there.

Hi Jintor,

thanks for your feedback!
Have you installed BOINC in the default location? Most likely it is not finding your clientstate.xml file, which by default is found in /Library/Application Support/BOINC Data/

If you prefer to store your BOINC data in a non-default location, add a "boincdatadir='your path'" argument to the gridcoin.conf file.

If the error occurs still occurs, pass me your debug.log file (found under ~/Library/Application Support/Gridcoin/)

The Mining Console is currently working neither on Linux nor Mac - I'll look into this.

Hi,

I installed Boinc and gridcoin to their default locations.

You tested with what version of boinc ?

Odd - could you perhaps pass me your debug log?

BOINC version should not matter.

Hi,

I got it to work :)

In this pic cpu project is not showing, because of "cpu projects are exhausted. Sleeping"...
In Pool I have

Thanks  ;)

Cool! To avoid the exhausted message just add some more BOINC projects, at the moment the lookback period is 0.911*24 hour so the next block you can mine is earliest in 21.864 hours after you found the last one.

Hey I would be keen to help debug you Mac version as well.  I'm running OS X 10.9.3.  However I would need some slightly more detailed setup instructions.   Not sure where to place the gridcoin.conf file.   And i'm assuming it should be the same as on a PC

Hi,

In the finder click the menu "go" and when the menu is opened hold the key "alt" and the folder "Library" will appear.

In Library folder you have "Application Support" and inside there is the folder "Gridcoin" place your gridcoin.conf there.

I hope this answers your question

Thanks, but no joy. I have that setting already. I have full privileges on the app as well and a reboot did not help either. Any other suggestinos?

Repaired permissions and cleaned, but the app crashes when launched without errot messages.

Will this be the app used when the new change-over is complete later this month at GC?

If not, this all may be a moot point.
