A warm welcome to Electron (ELT) to the Blake Coin family, the 4th child coin to Blake Coin which means now--- as in right now --- you can merge mine 5 coins at the same time ---  with the same hashpower.  This coin takes full advantage of every aspect of the Blake 256 algorithm and with 1 minute blocks and it will have the speed and security of the Blake Coin blockchain and be the fastest member of the family yet !!

So as the developer of Photon, I welcome you to the family and I am sure that Blake Coin, Dirac and BlakeBitcoin are just as thrilled to have you join us.  FIVE COINS MINED AT THE SAME TIME.

Plus ..... I love the name of the coin !!!!

Hi Cinnamon, just a question about the merged mining.

How to realize merged mining with 5 blake-coins?

Any advice would be greatful.

I notice there was an incredible pump on bittrex yesterday over 40 btc of electron changed hands.

Still wil that long over the network remains over 3 terrahash.

The LA pool has been on fire with over 50 ghs to hit the top ten.

Several people are well over 100 ghs alone.

Thanks to all supporting the Blake 256 ecosystem.

For your mid week enjoyment.... I updated Photon for qr code support in the win qt wallet and then I noticed everything was in the source to build it for Electron so here it is. An unofficial build from me. See the Photon thread for directons on how to compile it yourself.

Let me know how it works out !

Note I have forked the official Electron repo and compiled an updated wallet which you can get here....

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bz8503hoyr74bWU3YVBCZUJfSTg/edit?usp=sharing

My copy of the source code on github (not the official source is here)

https://github.com/photonproject/Electron-ELT

Changes include:

1) In my source code i deleted many unnecessary files and created an obj directory in the src directory.

2) I added a fairly recent checkpoint

3) Wallet was compiled with qr code support and with openssl 1.0.1h

Known issues still not fixed : some rpc console commands like getblocktemplate craash the client.

Photon does not have this problem but Electron and most other coins in the blake 256 family do suffer from this.

Note it is not related to this updated build this glitch was present in the initial release and every release after until now.  Eventually I will have time to correct it.

I am also working on a few other things also with one of the other core blake 256 developer while Bluedragon747 is slightly busy.  We are looking at a few possible 'enhancments'  -- The developer of Universal Molecule and I will certainly keep you posted on new developments we are working on.

I have updated my fork of Electron on github with the rpc console fix and built a wallet.

Tests good for me on Windows 8.1, 8, and 7

Get it here ! https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bz8503hoyr74QjF1UjJ4V1RscDQ/edit?usp=sharing

changes to the code are here

https://github.com/photonproject/Electron-ELT/commit/bd9a439bab26dd38cc933e1cb1330a38ada53aee

The windows wallet is built with open ssl 1.0.1h / qr support also like the last one

This is a non mandatory release that fixes the client from crashing in non server mode when you

tried to use the commands getwork getwork2 getblocktemplate ....ect...

Here is a windows qt electron build with the signature fix from dreamwatcher (thanks to him also for the code)

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bz8503hoyr74UGt2MGNaaldpRDA/edit?usp=sharing

Note /
this is an unofficial build by me from my fork of the electron source here which I believe the developer will either merge or update as he sees fit when he has time.

https://github.com/photonproject/Electron-ELT

It is tested on windows 7, 8 and 8.1 by me no issues, if you have any with the wallet please let me know.

see the most recent change here thanks Dreamwatcher (note i changed the pro file since this is now built with open ssl1.0.1h and I just cut out the references to my own build system )

https://github.com/photonproject/Electron-ELT/commit/9a05be69881ada5ae21529ec9d0e3cee7b8a3426

Here are the total changes I made to my fork of electron source code (there are 6 to date including the most recent)

https://github.com/photonproject/Electron-ELT/commits/master

They are all sound, correct ect... No one has reported any issues or problems. I think bluedragon747 would agree as he merged (some only the ones that needed updating) to blake coin and I see the B plus developer merged similar commits also from my fork.

I appreciate all the support from other members of the team and the entire community of everyone involved mining the blake 256 family of coins.
I also want to again thank all the exchanges who have listed coins in the blake 256 family.

We really do have the superior technology and there are plenty of other things in development for several of the coins.

Real world uses, payment systems, trading platforms , incredible games that will use some of the coins for money and much more.

Here is a paper of why Blake 256 offers the same security level of Sha 256d yet Blake 256 is faster in performance for mining.

http://eprint.iacr.org/2013/852

Also for those who think x11 x13 x23 x55 x99 is better see here please

http://ai.stanford.edu/~xb/crypto06b/blackboxhash.pdf

Many coins that 'claim' to be more secure are making statements that are unproven and much research from math and cryptography experts show these statements to be wrong.

Remember one of the predictions of Satoshi Nakamoto's white paper said that eventually bitcoin mining would start to effect and cause an increase in the costs of 'raw materials' i.e. electricity necessary for mining.

With this in mind I understand that some people also want what they believe are (with present 2014 technology) asic resistant proof of work algorithms.  The logic is to keep the network decentralized and fair to allow every hobby miner a chance to mine instead of just the owners of huge asic warehouses in the arctic circle.

Blake 256 is not asic resistant at all.  No asic units have been built to mine it yet but it out performs sha 256 d on fpga boards which are normally prototypes for how asic's are designed.

I sympathize with those who want to keep as many hobby miners in the game as possible but when you re read the bitcoin white paper you realize that making an asic resistant algorithm for proof of work is kind of like making a car that will get poor gas mileage on purpose.  Proof of work in a coin system that is designed for large worldwide adoption must be as energy efficient as possible.

Since the bitcoin development team has stated they have no plans to change the algorithm of bitcoin (and I understand why, millions of dollars of development have been placed in hardware to mine it)  as we move into the future and the prediction of Satoshi Nakamoto's white paper starts to become a reality............ more and more people will realize that the blake 256 proof of work algorithm is just the best overall fit there is.  I can go on and on but don't want to jack the Electron thread.

Thanks again to all supports of Electron and all the blake 256 coins.
