I have not been able to upload any WU's for about a week. From a quick scan of other users accounts, this seems to apply to all users.

Rob, can you fix this, or should we stop running the project?

Ok, this is the second try at this post, I screwed up and lost the first somehow.

My opinion is, Gridcoin does not need to alter the team requirement, or remove it.

Gridcoin needs instead to create a new Boinc Project (  Gridcoin@home  ) as a next generation move to improve Gridcoins position within the community, to encourage new participation of new people not already boincing, and to increase participation of experienced boincers who are already in other teams but want a part of it.

We could use a standard software boinc package for the website, where someone can come and sign up, and add the project to the list of other Boinc projects they run.

Accounting in the backend can incorporate a similar manager as is now running on Katiee's pool, where the new user could select individual projects that would run under the Gridcoin project face.

The new user could then select what to do with the Gridcoin produced with their boincing -

Here is where it gets interesting -
The new user can select various options within the project pages that would allow them to donate Gridcoins created by their boincing ( the same as joining the pool now.. ) and could also select if they want to donate their gridcoins to a particular real work organization or school for them to use for science or health related supplies!! This would mean that the user would not be required to have or use a wallet at all, they would be using the "gridcoin@home" wallet for donations. (no wallet setup or use issues) This would also put out in front, a goal for creating gridcoins - help support your school, your clinic in your area, your church even. This creates a market for gridcoin - We could incorporate a donor recipient portion to the site where school, or health, or science groups could go to request to be put on the donor list. They could also list companies that they deal with who they buy supplies from ( office supplies, church supplies, science lab supplies) and Gridcoin@home could then contact these suppliers and present a package where they could accept gridcoins for supplies . .. This creates a marketplace!! The new user's stats in various projects run through 'gridcoin@home' would be collected per user, and pushed ahead to the original project that they ran for gridcoin ( so atlas@home, or pogs, or whatever) . . . and therefore they would continue collecting RAC towards those projects ( which is a major complaint from people not wanting to join the pool or switch teams) They could also have the option of collecting part or all of the gridcoins which using the project would generate (this would require a personal wallet setup). Gridcoin@home would not issue RAC directly, we would only account for it, pass it to the original projects, we would however be able to issue GRC to any user signing up!! ok That is all, now back to work!!

Hey Katiee and all you poolers out there! I have been down for the last 2 days, with no OS on my machine. I dumped windows 10 because it kept having issues with the wallet and was locking up running boinc. I have switched to Ubuntu and am back up and running now.

Thank you Katiee for the pool payment, most excellent! I do appreciate you throwing in the extra GRC for us, however, seriously, it is not necessary. I have no problem with just waiting for my own cut from my own grinding. It is really a privilege to be able to use the pool to try to increase my own GRC, so stop throwing your GRC at us and let us earn it!!

Very excited about the new profile/project settings page, really looking forward to it. I know you have been really working hard to get it going. Cheers!

There is no worry about taking down your site to do the upgrade, I have enough projects stacked up that having a delay in uploading is no issue. Do what you gotta do!!

Again, thank you for all the work you are doing for all of us, I for one really do appreciate your great work!

The first official pool payment went out. We are now all caught up, I will be doing these more regularly now.

I threw in 100 GRC from my own pocket just to say thanks once again for sticking with me while I get the pool stable and add new features. ♥

The new profile / project settings page is done! However I still have some more work to do on the account manager side. I will also have to take down the website and account manager for a bit while I make some changes to the database, this should happen sometime tomorrow, I will post here before doing so.

    Hey Katiee,

Thank you for all the work you are doing on the pool, it is very much appreciated. I would like to request if possible ( this is a when you have time thing, I realize you are already working on many things for the pool ) . . . Is it possible to set preferences on Moo! Wrapper to use AMD/ATI gpus? Right now the projects downloading are using CPU only, and my machine runs better with them on the GPU tasks.

The second item is about Gridcoin Finance. I do not know if they are up and running, or sending out new tasks. I do know that they had some issue and lost the accounts that were connected to them. I have registered back with them (using the same email/pass combo) and my account is active again, however I am connected through the pool for that project, and it has not been updating at all. This may be because they are not up yet. . not sure.

Thanks, Merry Christmas, and keep up the excellent work!!

When you are just starting to research, the pool might also be a very good alternative:

    http://pool.gridcoin.co/

It allows you to earn coins very easily and regularly, whereas even with starter GRC of something like 20 GRC it might take some time until you actually get your first payout.

You can also start mining for the pool without any starter coins and get very regular payouts, so I would highly reccomend it.

    Katiee,

Question from the IRC I couldn't answer -- ButtoningSole02 is there a way to reset password on the pools website?

    Hey everyone,

I am new to gridcoins as of today, but have been grinding away on Boinc for years. I just did down load the Gridcoin wallet and have set it up but need some coins for it to work correctly. . .

My address to receive is -    S5NkFrskF21KjMYa1PjZCw1JW95MLYRnvc     ---  and I would greatly appreciate anything that you could do to get me started. Also if you do try to donate to my cause and have any issues, please report back to me so I can figure out if anything is messed up in the setup.

Thank you to everyone on this forum doing these great works for new people!!

November 21st update - After several days I have finally been able to sync my wallet. It has been a difficult adventure that required manually downloading the zip and putting it into my data folder, then running the rebuild block chain, but at last I am up to date. I was able to receive some starter coins from cryptospout.com, now just waiting for my few coins ( 1.184557 ) coins to mature. Thank you again for anyone who wants to donate to my starter cause!!

I have also joined the First (Closed Beta) Gridcoin Research Pool  ( https://cryptocointalk.com/topic/43015-first-closed-beta-gridcoin-research-pool/ ) in hopes of getting coins through cooperative gathering, at least until I can stake enough mature coins to be able to "Send a beacon" - from the instructions ( http://wiki.gridcoin.us/FAQ#How_do_I_start_mining.3F ).

I hope this little bit of instruction helps others just starting out. Most of all what I can suggest is have some patience, it has taken me several days to get to this point, so it might take you some time as well.

    Cheers!
