    BITCOIN SCRYPT - BTCS

Bitcoin sCrypt is the decentralized alternative to Bitcoin-core and is the first cryptographic currency to utilize CryptoVoter's decentralized blockchain voting to decide development issues and shift power away from developers and mining pools to coinholders themselves.

I tested the new Scrypt client. It works 100%. I set it up on two different computers, both loaded the chain from scratch without a problem! On both I also have a Bitcoin SHA256 wallet and it does indeed create a different folder, and I can confirm that the two clients can exist side by side. This is a BIG step in the right direction guys! Good work! The Icon also looks great. I like the look and feel of this.

Once the link on the front page is updated (perhaps also update the graphics as this will draw people here), I will draw some attention to this coin by creating a give-away thread on the parent page of the forum and send some BTC Scrypt to newly downloaded client generated addresses.

If anyone wants to donate some BTC that we can use to promote this, PM me and let's get the word out there. I have some great ideas on promoting this.

Thank you very much to the guys who took the time to improve this!

A massive thanks goes to Novebitme (Now collaborating with the source code) whose updates to the code has turned what was just a great idea into now, a fantastic reality.

We now have a Bitcoin named Crypto-Currency that actually IS decentralised and can be mined by anyone with an easily affordable GPU and not specialised hardware that by the time it gets delivered is nothing more than a paper weight.

I will fully update the bitcoinscrypt.org website and the OP on this thread to have all the correct updated details.

After this, our next task is for a massive push to get this listed on an exchange, with BTER.com probably being one of our best chances right now, as Extremecoin which I developed is already listed on there.

Thanks also going to the whole community who are supporting this coin and believe in what it is trying to do.

Just to keep you all aware, I am contacting the relevant people and pushing to get this coin on some exchanges, just like I did with BBQcoin and Extremecoin.

That's going to be hard.  Who is going to want to list this coin with the ticket the same as BTC SHA.  I know you mean well, but looking at it from an exchange perspective, why would they want to have two BTCs on the site?  Talk about confusion.  My Advice, Openex is open source software, you could create your own exchange or maybe it's time to go with a Bter site.  You could also open the Google Doc exchange back up.

Like I said, both those sites trade mainly against BTC SHA.  Why would they want to confuse their customers?

You can contact BTER about using their software to setup your own exchange, that's what I meant.

Trying to download blockchain from scratch with the new wallet.

It should work.  I did it yesterday and everything worked great.

With the AppData directory changed and the blockchain download issue fixed, I still think it's worth a try to get on a regular exchange.

I'm hoping that with end-users sophisticated enough to secure their wallets from online threats that they will also be sophisticated enough to know the difference between Bitcoin sCrypt and Bitcoin SHA256, but it will ultimately be up to the exchanges.

To be honest, I wanted to change the coin abbreviation in the client from BTC to BTX to help alleviate the confusion issue but after considering it I felt that I may be overstepping my bounds as developer by unilaterally deciding the issue (the exchanges can use whatever abbreviation format they want).  That said, if that is something that the community wants the devs would be more than happy to consider it because I am all about decentralizing everything, including development.

Good luck on getting on the exchanges Capt!  If it doesn't work out we can always fallback on Jimmy's great recommendation.

I don't know I kind of like the BTX... but of course if that is changed, then Bitcoin wins.  Sometimes the hard things are worth the extra effort in the end.

If the exchanges didn't have to deal with so many people who have the dumbest issues on a regular basis, they would probably add the coin.  I believe they wouldn't want the extra support tickets from the people who sent BTC sCrypt to a BTC SHA address and then proceeded to blame the exchange for their dumb move.

I stated once before, a Chinese exchange would be perfect because they mainly trade against CNY.  But those exchanges still have BTC SHA which would pose a problem for them also when people mess up transfers.

I think going to BTER route might be the best bet.  They you could make BTC2 the main trading pair against a number of cryptocurrencies.
